The Director of Events and Partnerships is a dynamic marketing leader responsible for managing trade association partnerships, planning and executing trade and hosted events, and supporting sales through strategic outreach to attendees. This role bridges marketing and sales to maximize the company’s visibility and impact at industry events, foster relationships, and generate leads. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in event management, partnership development, and higher education technology marketing, with a passion for driving measurable results.
Key components of the role include:
  • Managing the company’s presence at trade shows, conferences, and hosted events, ensuring alignment with strategic marketing goals.
  • Building and nurturing partnerships with trade associations to enhance brand visibility and drive event opportunities.
  • Coordinating outreach to event attendee lists to secure meetings on behalf of the sales team.
  • Developing and executing event-related communication plans that support lead generation and business development.
  • Supporting the lead generation strategy of events by making recommendations for future events to optimize outcomes.
  • Serving as a knowledgeable resource on the company’s solutions and their impact in higher education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Event Management:
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of trade show and hosted event participation, including booth design, presentation scheduling, and on-site logistics.
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality brand representation at all events.
  • Manage event budgets, timelines, and post-event reporting to assess ROI.
  • Support the lead generation strategy of events by analyzing outcomes and making strategic recommendations for future events.
Partnership Development:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with trade associations to identify and maximize sponsorships, speaking opportunities, and co-marketing initiatives.
  • Collaborate with associations to identify trends and opportunities for meaningful engagement within the higher education sector.
Sales Support:
  • Leverage attendee lists to conduct outreach and schedule meetings for sales team members, driving pre-event and post-event engagement.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to align event strategies with lead generation, revenue goals, and attribution for performance monitoring.
Communications and Strategy:
  • Develop strategic and tactical plans for event participation to influence decision-makers in higher education.
  • Partner with the marketing team to create promotional content, event collateral, and communication plans.
  • Track industry trends and competitor activities to recommend adjustments to event strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in event management, marketing, or business development.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple events and projects simultaneously with attention to detail.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present confidently to senior leadership and external partners.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and CRM or contact management software.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience in higher education technology or marketing.
  • 8+ years of experience in events, sales, or partnership development.
  • Strong understanding of marketing automation and event management platforms.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Ability to work in a remote environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Infrequent light physical effort required (e.g., setting up event booths).
